You have probably heard about others claiming to make money online working from home. But the truth is that you can earn extra money working from home in your spare time — making it a little bit easier to come up with that mortgage payment and to put gasoline in your car’s tank so that you can continue to make that daily commute to work.
Over the past two years, I’ve been earning cash through online survey sites, PTC (Paid-To-Click) sites, and other “hybrid” offer sites. I’m not getting rich, but I’ve been able to put gas in my car, buy a few nice things for my wife and myself, and put a little bit of extra spending money in my pocket, all without tapping into my regular income stream which is stretched quite thin as it is. Keep in mind that most of these panels limit accounts to only one per household. So if you have a spouse or a roommate — only one of you can sign up.
The links along the top of this page provide more detailed explanations, but to summarize: PTC sites pay you to view advertisements in the form of web pages. People want to generate traffic to their sites and are willing to pay you for a few seconds of exposure to their sites. It’s a very simple process. You click, you view, you earn. These sites usually pay your earnings to you via PayPal, Payza (formerly known as AlertPay), or by check. Online Survey sites give you credit for providing your opinions and experiences through survey responses. I’ve personally taken surveys on a wide range of consumer products and services, providing my own opinions and views on various topics. They cover everything from use of household products, to political viewpoints, to TV watching habits, and much more!
Hybrid Offer sites combine the two together. They have surveys available; they offer a few ads to click (sometimes in the form of videos to watch or a daily ‘check in’); they offer nominal payment for using their own search engines; and they offer many other opportunities to get paid for completing other offers online.

That said, some of the legitimate PTC services are free to join and give you the option to pay a fee to become a premium member. The difference is that the fee is voluntary and optional, not required for membership. Paying the upgrade fee CAN increase your earning potential and definitely makes sense if you are in this for the long haul.
With both Clixsense and Wordlinx (both explained in the PTC page), I initially opted to go the free route to see where it led me. Once I earned enough credits to upgrade to the premium memberships, I did so. I’ll be honest: it took a while to initially earn the upgrade fees, but it was worth it as I quickly made back the investment and more through more frequent and more volume ad opportunities as an upgraded member. I am still just making small change and not big bucks, but I didn’t pay in any money up front so it hasn’t really cost me anything. This especially made sense with Clixsense and Wordlinx because the upgrade fees were reasonable ($10-$20 for an annual membership). Some of the other PTC sites charge larger fees for shorter subscriptions, so you may decide to not upgrade there. The route you choose is up to you!
